JA Programs' Effectiveness

Testimonial from a JA Teacher:
“Junior Achievement helps my students by supplying a real-world perspective that complements my classroom curriculum. By having JA in my class, I feel like I am preparing my students both academically and practically, and giving them all the tools they need to reach their potential.”

JA is proud to be partnered with the following school districts:

Partnering with JA is Easy!

JA provides curriculum-based programs AT NO COST TO SCHOOLS that are taught by trained business and community volunteers to K-12th grade students in both classroom and after-school settings.

Steps to request a Junior Achievement program & Invite a JA Volunteer into your classroom:

Step #1 Complete the JA Educator Participation Preferences Online Form – or print out this form to submit to the JA office. A JA Program Manager will contact you ASAP!
Step #2 Your requested program(s) is published on the Specific Volunteer Opportunities Lists by Region:
Waccamaw - Horry & Georgetown
Trident  - Charleston, Dorchester & Berkeley
Lowcountry - Beaufort, Hampton, Colleton & Jasper
Step #3

Help JA recruit a volunteer:
Use this MS Word template to share the volunteer opportunity with parents, business partners & others.

Step #4 After a volunteer is confirmed and receives a JA Program Kit during short orientation, Volunteer & Teacher are connected to agree on optimal schedule of classroom visits. Teacher gives JA pre-test to students.
Step #5 After the last classroom visit is complete, teacher administers post-test to students, then notifies JA Program Manager of the completion. Teacher completes JA program verification form.

Impact of JA

Importance of Staying in School:
Participation in JA reinforces the value of an education. In recent program evaluations conducted by an independent research firm, an average of 8 out of 10 high school students report that Junior Achievement programs helped reinforce the importance of staying in school. In longitudinal studies, JA students were significantly more likely than their peers to believe that they would graduate from high school, pursue post-secondary education and graduate from college.

Preparation for the Real World:
95%
of teachers report that students who participate in Junior Achievement have a better understanding of how the real world operates, and nine out of 10 teachers and volunteers agree or strongly agree that JA programs connect what is learned in the classroom to the outside world.

Educator Respected & Recommended:
96%
of teachers agreed or strongly agreed that they would recommend JA to a colleague or friend.

Evidence based research confirms students in Kindergarten through High School are more likely to succeed in life with proper understanding of real world economics. Teachers welcome JA volunteers into their classrooms to share their powerful, primary source message: The American Dream is Alive & Well. It is imperative that we share these fundamental concepts in our classrooms– Now More Than Ever!
